Course Instructor:Heike Reichelt is Head of Investor Relations and New Products at the World Bank. The World Bank borrows around USD 45 billion annually in the international capital markets. Her team’s responsibilities include managing relationships with bond investors and rating agencies, and developing new debt products for investors – such as for climate change mitigation and adaptation through products like World Bank Green Bonds. Course Summary: We are hearing so much these days about “socially responsible investing”, “sustainable investing”, “impact investing”, and investing based on ESG criteria – meaning “environment, social and governance”. But what does it all mean? This workshop will help learners understand how the history of “SRI” has led to current practices and principles, with an emphasis on concepts and strategies related to fixed income investing.

  1. Gain a general understanding of the history, leading to current investment trends.
  2. Identify terminology used to define the various concepts around social impact investment practices.
  3. Explain the rationale behind investor motivations to participate in social impact strategies.
  4. Compare and contrast various types of social investing as it pertains to bonds and “bond-type” structures.
